CORPORATE ACCOUNTANT

Our client, an Oil and Gas Operator is seeking an experienced Corporate Accountant to join their organisation. This is a 6 month PAYE contract role.

Reports to:

Finance Manager Operations

Role Purpose:

The role is an integral part of the Aberdeen Finance team, responsible for providing Corporate Accounting support for Operations and Corporate activities led by the team. This position ensures the integrity of key financial information and ensuring the client’s control framework, supporting both the Aberdeen and London teams with key financial information ensuring compliance with various financial reporting requirements and completeness.

Main Tasks:

Maintain Inventory accounting processes and procedures for the client’s assets. Review Inventory disposals and provide guidance to warehouse team on correct treatment and coding. Support business process to ensure Inventory procedures are compliant with requirements.

Coordinate Balance Sheet Reconciliations process

Coordinate Interim and Year end audit support.

Complete month end accounting tasks of Inventory entries, calculate obsolete stock provision, assure Payroll related benefits reconciliations and postings. Reconciliation of Share Scheme postings.

Oversight and monthly release of prepayments.

Provide guidance on Maximo hopper items and undertake testing of new enhancements.

Perform Annual FRIGG analysis.

Review monthly bank reconciliations and advise on coding of suspense items.

Assurance of SUN system postings and provide guidance to Joint Venture accountants regarding Joint Venture accounting SUN postings.

Develop SUN enhancements to improve processes and data integrity such as Account Allocations.

Provide oversight of Access - Employee Expense system and implement new travel provider process.

Prepare six monthly PRT returns for the Bruce JV. Liaise with Hydrocarbon Accounting, JV partners, shippers to obtain data inputs, prepare and issue claims schedules to partners for review. Reconcile submission data to claims and submit claims to HMRC website.

Office National Statistics reporting for the client (capex additions, purchases survey and business survey)

Professional/Educational Requirements:

Essential:

Professional Accounting qualification such as ICAS/ICEAW, CIMA, ACCA

Strong Systems knowledge of Sunsystems, preferably Maximo

Can demonstrate experience in a relevant Oil and Gas industry role

Can articulate learning and training experiences

Strong understanding of Joint Venture accounting system processes, general ledger accounting and balance sheet control

Good communication (both verbal & written) and team working skills

Plan and manage workload within challenging timetables

Strong system processes understanding and ability to incorporate automated assurance checks and balances within Sun and between Sun and Maximo.

Strong analytical and determined approach to interrogation of system anomalies.

Strong excel skills and experience of extracting financial reporting information from SUN accounting systems (SUN, Q&A Data Extraction)
